All too often we make the assumption that our personal participation and contribution to union activities somehow has insignificant value. We falsely believe that there are other people in the union whose lives are somehow less complex and their reasons to participate are more compelling than our own. It turns out there are no other people. We all have obligations to our husbands, wives, children, friends, students and more. People tend to forget their real obligation is to themselves, especially because those around us have come to depend on us. How can we take care of others and give our best, our maximum, our 100%, when we have not the time nor the inclination to do better for ourselves? When we have more, we can give more!
Preliminary data suggest low participation levels at nearly every site. We cannot negotiate without you. MBUTA as an organization needs you, but more importantly you need YOU! Visit the Activity Participation Survey today and let us know how you are willing to help.
